Cross Processing

This is a method that can be used in colour photography where either negative film is processed in slide film developer or vice versa i.e. the E-6 process is applied to negative film or the C-41 process is applied to slide film. Hence colour negative film processed as slide film will produce a dark, bluish positive image. Slide film cross processed will create a negative image that can then be printed as colour negatives. The results are bright complementary colours and reversed tones.
The positive image produced by cross processing a colour negative film cannot be used as slide due to the orange mask and the slide chemicals make the image too dark.
